The Story
Lost wax cast in the Cox bronze foundry, fine and characterful wisteria branches are fashioned by the artists into wild and unruly compositions of softly burnished bronze.
In this way, each individual or pair of mirrors is a unique edition.
The mirror plates are created using unique artisanal glass. Hand-silvering can be detected through a semi-translucent opacity, but it is not reflective like a traditional mirror. The surface quality is reminiscent of wind-pocked water, and subtle antiquing hints at a hidden depth.
Early making processes limited the size of mirror plates in the 18th Century. Similarly, today, artisanal handmade glass plates are limited in scale, meaning our split mirror plate pays authentic homage to the past, when plates were often split in two or three to achieve the required dimensions in large mirrors.
