The Story
The Petite Spring Oak Tree chandelier is a hand forged, sculptural interpretation of these majestic trees. The Autumnal Spring patina a rich palette of greens, whites and ochres, weaving a rich tapestry of colour throughout the hand forged foliage.
Studying fine art sculpture with a focus on welded metals led Cox to an apprenticeship in antique metalware restoration, where the wild nature of ancient oaks inspired his first concept chandelier.
Oaks, which are vital wildlife havens supporting more species than any other tree and classified as ancient at 400 years, have been a source of material and inspiration for artists for centuries.
Growing up amid three generations of antique dealers who specialised in medieval carved-oak sculpture and furniture, oak symbolised strength, wisdom, and beauty, making it no surprise that these ancient trees continue to be a recurring theme in the Coxs' studio practice.
