FIRST OF ITS KIND CRAFT APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

About Us

Cox London are designers and makers of unique sculptural lighting, furniture, and artworks of the highest calibre. We are commissioned by celebrated interior decorators, collectors and discerning private individuals worldwide, and work with a deep respect for materials and traditional craftsmanship, resulting in sculptural works that are as functional as they are poetic.

Our Story

Cox London offers a return to craft where artists’ hands, material knowledge and natural inspiration all play intrinsic roles in the pieces we make.

We are committed to foster a culture of excellence in craftsmanship and design. Our vision is to be the leading employer in the UK craft industry by creating a Centre of Excellence that offers a comprehensive and immersive experience for talent passionate about this field.

These two apprenticeships are three-year, full-time placements where you earn as you learn. In your foundation year, you’ll get a 360-degree view of Cox London and Guild Bespoke Metalworks, with hands-on training from warehouse and production to commercial sales and finance, alongside learning ancient crafts. You’ll also benefit from an accredited external Business Skills course. At the end of the first year, you’ll be assessed in specialist areas (Fabrication, Patination, Wiring, and Foundry) and choose one area to specialise in during years two and three.

Combining on-the-job, hands-on training (4 days/week) with studying (1 day/week), you’ll engage with mentors, managers, and a close-knit community daily, who will support your journey and provide the guidance and insight you need to thrive.

What You’ll Do:

  • You’ll spend time in each department at Cox London and Guild Bespoke Metalworks, learning about all aspects of our businesses.
  • You’ll become competent using basic machinery and power tools, learning about materials and developing hand-making and dexterity skills.
  • You’ll learn the importance of accuracy, attention to detail, and quality in the finishing process.

Where You’ll Work:

Cox London’s head office and workshops are in Tottenham Hale, London. You’ll also spend time at Guild Bespoke Metalworks in Stockbridge, Hampshire (travel and/or accommodation paid for by Cox London).
