Aftercare
A service supporting the long-term care of a Cox London piece within the interior.

Delivered in situ by a Cox specialist, each visit includes a careful inspection, followed by gentle cleaning of metal and glass elements, the refreshing of waxed or patinated finishes where appropriate, or small adjustments to ensure everything continues to sit, hang and operate as intended. Rather than repairs or maintenance in the conventional sense, it is a considered, preventative approach to caring for hand-finished objects over time.

FAQ
Why would my piece need aftercare?
Cox pieces are hand‑finished and crafted to last. Over time, natural settling in an interior and the gradual build‑up of dust can gently soften their appearance. Aftercare provides expert attention that keeps each piece looking its best and ensures it continues to present exactly as intended within your space.
Does the Aftercare service include major repairs or technical work?
Our Aftercare visits focus on in‑situ care - inspection, gentle cleaning, patina and finish care, and minor adjustments. They don’t include structural rebuilds, major component replacement, rewiring, or re‑engineering. However, our North London atelier can support all of these more involved needs. Just contact us with the details and we’ll work with you to find the right solution.
How often should I book a visit?
Most clients find every 1–2 years works well, depending on the space and the piece.
What actually happens during a visit?
We begin by arranging a time that suits you. During the visit, we carry out a careful inspection of the piece, gently clean the metal and glass, refresh the finish where needed, and make any small adjustments to ensure everything continues to sit, hang, and work exactly as it should.
Will you need to turn the power off?
Sometimes, yes, briefly, so we can work safely. We’ll always let you know.
Do I need to prepare the space?
In most cases, no preparation is needed. If we do require a little clear space beneath the piece to work safely, we’ll let you know in advance and make the necessary arrangements, ensuring everything is handled as smoothly as possible.
Can you fix anything during the visit?
We can handle minor adjustments. If something more involved is needed, we’ll talk it through and advise next steps.
Is this only for lighting?
The service is primarily designed for lighting and mirrors. Some furniture or wall‑mounted pieces may also be suitable for Aftercare, though they often require off‑site work at our North London atelier. Share the details with us, and we’ll advise on the best approach for your piece.
How long does a visit usually take?
Typically between one and three hours, depending on the piece and its position.
Do I need to be there?
It helps to be there at the start, but we can also coordinate with household staff or property managers if needed.
